We began our 80th Anniversary season in style last night with our annual Orchestral Masterpieces concert!

Congratulations to our Principal Trumpet David Johnson whose performance of Arutiunian's wonderful Trumpet Concerto was simply stunning! Well done, Davi, and we feel blessed to have shared such a memorable evening with you.

Thank you as always to our appreciative audience for your ongoing support. We were delighted to be joined by members of the Nelson family as we remembered our founder, Dr Havelock Nelson, and performed his delightful Caribbean Suite.

Well done to all our players and a huge SSO thank you to our maestro Tanya Houghton for her inspirational leadership and enthusiasm. We are truly lucky to have Tanya as our Principal Conductor.

Thank you also to Zuzanna Edmonds, our professional leader, and the SSO committee for all your hard work!

Our next concert is in St. Anne's Cathedral on Saturday 5th December when we will join the Cathedral choir for a special Gala Concert celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Black Santa Christmas appeals. More details soon!
