A huge SSO thank you to everyone who came along to our Orchestral Masterpieces Concert last night!  Alongside Elgar's elegant Froissart overture and Amy Beach's wonderful Gaelic Symphony, we were treated to a stunning performance of Mozart's Clarinet Concerto with soloist William Curran - well done, William!

Congratulations to our leader Zuzanna Edmonds and all our players and a special mention must go to our Principal Conductor Tanya Houghton. Tanya's enthusiasm and love of music are so infectious and she continues to push our amateur orchestra to reach the highest possible standard.

Thank you also to everyone on the SSO committee for putting the whole concert together and to the family of our founder, Dr Havelock Nelson, who continue to support their father's legacy.

This was also a poignant concert for the SSO as it was our first performance since the passing of our beloved Conductor Emeritus David Openshaw. We look forward to celebrating David’s legacy next season with a concert in his memory.

Our next concert is on Saturday 16th May in Bangor - please save the date!
