Dear Friend,
On Saturday 16th May, the Studio Symphony Orchestra will be returning to Bangor for the final concert of our 78th Season. This ‘Song and Dance’ concert will be held in St. Comgall’s Parish Centre, Brunswick Road, Bangor at 8pm and features a tuneful musical journey through song and dance from the classics.
We invite you to experience a night of musical enchantment as we sweep you from the eerie shadows of Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre to the hypnotic pulse of Ravel’s Bolero. This programme celebrates the flair of the stage, featuring virtuosic vocal fireworks from renowned soprano Rebecca Murphy in Bernstein’s Glitter and Be Gay and Gounod’s Je veux vivre. From the elegant whirl of Lehár’s Gold and Silver Waltz to the high-energy kicks of Offenbach’s Can-Can, it is an evening of timeless melodies.
Programme:
Saint-Saens – Danse Macabre
Lehar – Gold and Silver Waltz
Lehar - Vilia's Song from The Merry Widow
Bernstein - Glitter and Be Gay from Candide
Offenbach – Can-Can
Respighi – Ancient Airs and Dances Suite No. 3
Gounod – Je veux vivre from Romeo and Juliet
Delibes – Les filles des Cadix
Ravel – Bolero
Conductor: Paul McCusker
Leader: Zuzanna Edmonds
